Gitgit Waterfall

A visit to the waterfall at Gitgit should be on every tourist's list. Gitgit waterfall is located in the plateau area with the height about 35 meters and it is surrounded by tropical tree and emits the constantly natural water debit during the year. Waterfall voice around the charming nature was amazing and it was the separate attraction which can be enjoyed by each visitor who comes to visit. There are some plantations protecting the rain forest around the waterfall and in this place we often met the wild monkey to get the water from this waterfall.

This 45-meter-high waterfall is indisputably the biggest waterfall in Bali and Gitgit waterfall not only offers you one waterfall but three. The second waterfall can be found along the way to the third waterfall. You have to take a scenic hike 2 km uphill from the main fall to reach the third waterfall.

Gitgit waterfall is situated near the border of Buleleng and Tabanan regency, around 11 km south of Singaraja, near the Bedugul area. The entrance to this waterfall is marked by a small sign on the side of the road. To reach the waterfall you have to walk a narrow dirt path, lined with Souvenir and drink stalls, but beyond these stalls, lush green surroundings are ready to soothe your eyes. Gitgit waterfall is a very picturesque waterfall that roars down a steep stone cliff into a mist covered pool at the base of a rock face. You can swim in the pool but the water is usually pretty cold. From the waterfall you can take a look to the north where you can see the town of Singaraja.

You can park your vehicle at a parking lot on the Denpasar to Singaraja road from where you can see the waterfall. To get closer to the waterfall, you still need to walk. However, everyone will find it interesting as the surrounding area is preserved in its natural scene. Some shops already built there, offering various souvenirs and snacks for the visitors. It is of course a refreshing experience to walk in this quiet area where the birds take turns to sing.

The path can be considered in two halves. The first part is a stepped concrete path bordered by trees and shrubs on one side and a myriad of colourful shops on the other. Halfway along the path, the scene changes and you can see coffee and clove trees on both sides. For those searching for the ultimately romantic spot to spread out an open air feast, there are picnic facilities available at the site, offering spectacular views of the dramatic falls.

The air is fresh as typical forest atmosphere and gradually gets colder aa you approach the waterfall. A short distance from the waterfall, the fine water spray will cool your body. When the weather is cold, sometimes the atmosphere will become misty.

The waterfall is forty-five metres high and as the water falls, it looks like white clouds falling down the mountain one after another. The falling water almost completely covers the rockface of the fall. If you have a camera with manual settings, try taking some long exposure photographs.

On 1975, this waterfall is opened as tourist destinations in north part of Bali. Since it is appointed as a tourist destination in Bali, many tourists from domestic and foreign countries visits this waterfall. The facilities are available at Gitgit Waterfall is consisted of the parking area, restaurant and art shop. It is not far from the waterfall place, there is a place for taking a rest while enjoy the beauty panorama of rice terrace and Buleleng Beach.
